The Azores as safe vacation destination in 2021

The European Best Destinations elected the Azores as a European Safest Destination in 2021. The election was based on criteria such as the number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, sanitary measures and local recommendations imposed by authorities to welcome tourists in hotels, shops and restaurants.

In 2020, the Azores had already been distinguished by the European cultural and tourist promotion website, making the archipelago one of the few destinations that held the possibility for a safe experience, in permanent contact with nature in a sustainable manner.

The distinction given by “European Best Destinations” thus reinforces the confidence you can have in choosing the Azores archipelago when selecting a destination for your next vacation.
